From the Founder’s Desk: How I Cut My Cats’ Shedding by 80% with the Muddi Ritual

From the Founder’s Desk: How I Cut My Cats’ Shedding by 80% with the Muddi Ritual

As both a devoted cat parent and the founder of Muddi Pet, I know the frustration of finding fur everywhere — your clothes, your furniture, even your morning coffee. I’ve spent years trying every brush, comb, and supplement on the market, but nothing made a real, lasting difference.

That changed when I started using the Muddi Ritual on my own cats. What began as a test for our rinse-free serum turned into a complete game-changer for shedding control — and I’m sharing exactly how it works.

The Shedding Problem No One Warns You About

For years, I thought I was stuck with endless lint rolling and daily vacuuming. My cats are indoor, healthy, and well-fed, yet they’d leave a cloud of hair floating through the air after every petting session. Brushing helped — but only so much, and it often created more mess than it solved.

The First Time I Tried the Muddi Ritual for Shedding

The Muddi Ritual was originally created for easy, rinse-free coat care between baths. But when I tried it during peak shedding season, I was shocked by what happened.

Here’s my process:

  1. Warm Towel Cleanse – I dilute our serum in warm water, soak a Muddi Mitt, and wipe my cats down from neck to tail. The warmth and gentle ingredients loosen dead hair naturally, making brushing easier and more effective. Bonus: because the coat is slightly damp, there’s none of that “hair floating everywhere” problem.

  2. Brush-Through Finish – Immediately after, I brush them through with our Muddi Groom & Glide Brush. It glides easily over the softened coat, pulling out loose hair without tugging or discomfort.

The result? I noticed a huge reduction in loose hair in the days following — at least 80% less shedding in the following days.

Why It Works

  • Loosens Fur at the Root – The warm towel cleanse gently lifts dead hair without harsh pulling.

  • Dampens Static – Brushing a slightly damp coat keeps hair from flying around the room.

  • Skin & Coat Friendly – Our serum is formulated with oat extract, aloe vera, and a calming blend of calendula, cica, chamomile, licorice root, vitamin E, and other soothing botanicals to nourish skin, keeping the coat healthier (and less prone to excess shedding) over time.

How Often I Do It

I now repeat the full Muddi Ritual once every two weeks during peak shedding season, which has cut my cats’ shedding by nearly 80% and keeps their coats looking fresh. In between, I do light touch-ups: every 3–4 days I mist their coat with a spray I make by diluting Muddi Pet’s rinse-free Towel Cleanse Serum with water and pouring it into a small spray bottle. A few mists followed by a gentle brush-through keep their fur hydrated, smooth, and far less likely to end up around the house.

The Takeaway for Pet Parents

If you’re overwhelmed by shedding, you don’t need to resign yourself to endless clean-up. The Muddi Ritual is quick, mess-free, and incredibly effective — whether you have a shorthaired cat, a longhaired dog, or anything in between.

From my own home to yours, I can confidently say: this simple routine will change the way you think about pet grooming.
